iPhone is alive! Live from Macworld 2007: Steve Jobs keynote – Engadget
Thomas Menguy | January 10, 2007If you read this blog, good chances you are a connected gizmo geek, hum you like phones and mobility, so really check the latest Steve Jobs keynote report from engadget: Live from Macworld 2007: Steve Jobs keynote – Engadget (or in video here for the full keynote).
Ok: so first it is a high end smartphone, pretty expensive…but look at this one! (check the official iPhone web site)
- no buttons (similar in look to the BenQ black Box concept)…so innovative software!
- Ultra slim
- Biiiiig screen with 160dpi (320*480)
- Quad band GSM+GPRS+EDGE (no 3G), Wifi b/n/g, Bluetooth 2.0
- 5 hours talk time 16 hours playing MP3
- 2MP camera (lens??)
- accellerometer…to automatically switch from portrait to landscape….alleluia
- REAL OSX running!!!! => so Real Safari Browser…wow.
- The most interesting for me: Web services from Yahoo and Google built-in…a dream
I need a keyboard …here it is!:
So ok, it is a Steeve Jobs Keynote with its famous “distortion field of reality”…but Apple is really a temptation champion (especially compared to MS ), and may really bring something new here, relegating all the smartphone software (and hardware?) to unfinished and unpolished first tries.
For me the real breakthroughs seems to be:
- For the first time a company that know how to do software AND hardware is building a phone, this is truly unique (SE, Nokia, Moto, Samsung are more hardware companies where software is only meant to make their product run)
- Web services direct integration inside the native UI, not in the browser: this is I think really where the industry is going now…(see the google/orange phone , and all the various attempt from google mail, yahoo go and Microsoft live to offer j2me front end to their web services…the browser is NOT the mobile phone king! more on this later)
The wait will be long till June (in the US), and end of this year in Europe…but I already want one!
